Band: Wholewheat
LP: Songs From My Parents Basement
Label: Mystery Circles
Year: 2014
Genre: indiepop, indiefolk
Contacts: Facebook, Twitter

Listen here

It seems the spring is still far away, yes, away. The sky is still grey, cloudy, the wind still cold and the rain still bothering you. Let’s open a bottle of red wine, let’s put something in the glass and let’s go downstairs in the basement to see what is going on over there. With such shitty weather, what else you can do? Let’s start to move things, and oh damn, so so dusty, augh augh. Auch, my head, we should be very carefull. Oh, look there, there is a tape, let’s play it. Hey dude! Do you remember when we were playing such stuff?

Well, I don’t know if it was exactly this the situation around such album, but Wholewheat are teaching us that sometimes it makes sense just rummage through old stuff ’cause at the end you don’t know what you can find. It happens to find some little treasures, or something to work with. This is a lesson for your old records too, you must never throw them out, you never know, you may rework on them and that’s it, the game is done.

Warm vibes from the infamous New Jersey, the other side of coolness: low voices, mildew smell, lofi sounds, wine and cigarettes all around. Strongly reccommended the vinyl to full catch the genuineness of acoustics. What about you?

With all lightness of almond tree’s flowers Boyish had released last year a lovely album with the title “Sketch For 8000 Days Of Moratorium” mad of love, shoegaze, twee pop, candies, pink walls and shabby vinyls.

Is it necessary to find something really original for to love it?
I think no, and when I find a new ep garage-rock I listen to these with passion, as ever.

I like this genre, because is not artificial, is young, ever fresh and remember me that also if I don’t see the sun, it is behind the fog and continues to smile.

Gorgeous Bully is an artist who ha published one year ago a nice ep with the title “Nobody Hates You As Much As You Hate Yourself “, for Art is Hard Records.

The ep is cool, fast, wild, rich of influence from garage-rock bands that come from East Coast.
Five track made of memories from Best Coast, September Girls and, why not, The Drums (but more lof-fi).
Every track is particular, catching and lovely.

Different is the material that Gorgeous Bully has used for create the new track “dumb ideals” (free download on Soundcloud) that discloses how will be the next release by him that will come soon.

This track looks like more clean and slowly nostalgic, but anyway garage-rock (with less lo-fi).

But Gorgeous Bully fascinates us however and we are impatient to discover how will be the next release and discover what is hidden inside the shells that this music calls to mind.

Do you know what is the sound of the happiness?
Today I have discovered others melodies that become to be part of my repertory of happiness.

Yuko Yuko is a solo-project by Elias Elgersma, a young boy who comes from Netherlands.

I have found his music thanks to the newest song released 10 days ago on Soundcloud, “Seventeen And Melting“.

The psych-pop of Yuko Yuko is a brilliant spring of mind, in which you can find the lightness dream-pop, the light of the twee-pop, all smiles and all bicycles of the indie-pop.

In some corner of these melodies (that you can listen to also in the ep “I <$ U “) it is possible to find also a little nostalgic research of eighties sounds but, the sound is so sunny and vibrant, as the psych-pop suggest, that if you open the window is possible to see the rainbow in the fog.

Between all music material that speak with us with twee sounds, so young, so light, so funny sometimes i lost the time for to remember, to think about lost things, lost people and introspective moments. But listening El Xicano with Horror Pop EP i have found all my grey and shining suggestions that come from the deepest side of my memory. It is strange to find this kind of music that is rare in this period. It is a lovely surprise to find the voice of Litifiba, the alt-rock of nineties, ripped pictures and desire to narrate and not only to sing. This album have a title that doesn’t fit his real nature: this is alt-rock authentic and mature that sits down next to windows and see to stars.

A pair of frays jeans , used from the time, emotion, from the fury, from the desire to run more quickly of the wind.
When you listen to the new ep of September Girls, Veneer EP, you start a travel in a universe young, roaring, fragile, aggressive and, sometime, a little bit not original.
This is not a completly positive review, because i wanna be transparent and I dislike to scream that it is a miracle when it is not so.
This new EP is a garage-rock mixed with punk rock and, sometime, with surf-rock, with a pink touch that is really really evident.
It is a listening good for prepare yourself for a crazy saturday night with your best friends or for to free all stress that you have keep in yourself during the day.
Veneer EP is a shout in the air, to orizons, against chains of daily routine, to all things that you desire but you have not (yet).
